Jerry Appelt was born in Munich in 1966 and grew up in Italy and Upper Bavaria. After training in the Bavarian State Administration, he decided to pursue a professional future in the event industry. He took his first steps in the area of sound amplification, but he quickly discovered his real passion: light.

Here he was able to combine creativity and musicality. From an early age, he worked intensively on moving lights and intelligent lighting controls — experiences that later opened the way for him to design lighting for TV productions, among other things.

After years as a freelance lighting designer, Jerry Appelt moved to Procon at the end of the 1990s, where he initially managed the production department and worked as managing director from 2000. The desire to concentrate entirely on lighting design led to the return to self-employment in 2003. Since then, as a designer, he has shaped live concerts, TV productions, corporate events and major international projects. Over the years, his field of activity expanded to include stage and production design, particularly at major live concerts, as well as creative direction. Always open to innovation, he integrated new technologies such as moving lights, LED surfaces and drones into his work early on. For over 20 years, he has also been using his good contacts and expertise to help develop new technical components — such as lighting fixtures — together with manufacturers. He can look back on a long network in the industry, which helps him to implement upcoming projects in a targeted and precise manner. Through this wide-ranging, interdisciplinary knowledge, Jerry Appelt brings to every project not only a deep understanding of design, impact and dramaturgy, but also profound technical know-how.

Jerry Appelt has received numerous awards for his work, including the German Television Award and the Opus Award.
